Marriage Preparation & Family Life
If you're planning to get married in the Catholic Church and you live in the Archdiocese of Toronto, you are required to complete a marriage preparation program. The Marriage Preparation and Family Life Office of Catholic Family Services of Toronto, in partnership with the Archdiocese of Toronto's Chancery Office, offers these programs throughout the Archdiocese. It also offers other specialised programs.
Courses delivered by Catholic Family Services of Toronto are guided by professionally trained and skilled counsellors. Some parishes offer their own marriage preparation courses and they are led by priests or trained volunteer couples. Our staff provides training and on-going support to these volunteers.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION
Provides courses for couples preparing for marriage. The program assists couples to discern if they are prepared to be married and provides them with information and education to enhance their readiness to have a healthy marriage.
These courses are also appropriate for those couples who are civilly married or cohabiting.

RE-MARRIAGE PREPARATION
Provides courses for couples where one or both partners has been previously married and are preparing for re-marriage. The program assists these marrying couples to discern if they are prepared to be married and provides them with information and education to enhance their readiness to have a healthy marriage. PARISH BASED MARRIAGE PREPARATION -- Priest and/or Volunteer-led Programs
We collaborate with pastors to enhance their own parish based marriage preparation programs. Please call your parish directly for more information.
LEADERSHIP TRAINING FOR LAY COUPLES
Provides the marriage preparation leadership training program for volunteer lay couples.
CONSULTATION AND TRAINING TO CLERGY
Provides training, consultation and assessment services to clergy and staff of Archdiocese of Toronto.
NEW BEGINNINGS PROGRAM
In partnership with the Chancery Office of the Archdiocese of Toronto, we offer the New Beginnings Program. New Beginnings is a program with a rich history of assisting separated, divorced and widowed Catholics. The program provides counselling, opportunity for reflection and spiritual guidance as part of the healing journey through live-in retreat weekends, monthly renewal meetings and parish support groups. These services are offered throughout the Archdiocese of Toronto.
